Good for you for saving that hen!! It is disgusting the way some people treat there animals.Its nice to know there are still good people such as yourself in this world.
I have 4 9wk old pr RIR pullets 2 golden comets,1 barred rock and a rooster of unknown origins.I would like to focus on RIR heritage birds mainly but have been unable to fine them locally.
just to let you {and everyone else in the HV} know I have a great breeder in the town of wallkill that has golden comets,barred rocks,P.R's and delawares.he also has pot belly pigs and rabbits.

What breed of rabbits? I breed and show Netherland Dwarfs.
As for chickens..i only know of 1 guy in Poughkeepsie that i deal with..he has some beautiful birds! But i dont think he has RIR's.. He does have beautiful Wyandottes and Orpingtons, and some other breeds i cant remember right now lol

I'm not sure what breed of rabbits he has,there not really my thing.I do know he has meat rabbits as well as another {pet type} breed.
I will find out for you.
by the way,he also has black stars and ducks!
he has been working with birds for over 30 years and has over 300 on his farm!

Nope...his name is Randy..he posts on craigslist once in awhile with Lavender Orpingtons, BLR wyandottes, salmon favellas (i spelled that wrong) and some other breeds.

Do your orps sleep on the roost with the others? If not, you can try and put them on the roost with the others..maybe thatll help?

Yep..they roost on the top roost w/the rest of the girls. They hardly use the bottom one. When I locked them up tonight the Orps were in the "best spot" ~ on the end near the window. I guess this integration thing takes awhile? Between the rain yesterday and running around today, (Prom Day!) I didn't get to spend any time with them but DH said the girls weren't as mean to the Orps when he let them out this afternoon. I'll have to watch them closely tomorrow and see what's going on. I spent the morning cleaning the house and the rest of the day running errands and taking DD to the hairdresser, etc. I'm TIRED!

AND Hello to you Mizz Laura and ny mason! I hope you had a nice day and made it through the storm. My yard was pretty saturated when I checked things out this morning. I planted some herbs in one of those big whiskey barrels from TSC last week and everything was flooded. I hope the sun helped dry things out.

My yard was soaked aswell...glad the sun came out for a bit tho! My chickens are not bothered by the rain at all...They sit outside and get soaked..my rooster looks really funny all wet!
Your DD looks beautiful!! I hope she had a great time at her prom!

Also..has anyone grown cantaloupe? I planted cantaloupe weeks ago and it dosnt seem to be growing much....Dont know what im doing wrong
