Haha im here!
Lovin this 70 degree day!
And what great sleeping weather! Hated to go into the office this AM. Would have been a great day to get more housepainting done, hope this weather stays around awhile.

I won't get back to painting until next weekend.

How are everyone's chicks and layers doing this week? Lisa, any more non-freeloaders?

Sorry Diane :-( I'm having trouble finding chickens too. We had goats but DH re-homed them. We put their coop/hut/barn/whatever up for sale. We had someone interested but he never showed up to pick it up so my DH modified it. It is now a 2nd chicken coop! Painting it this weekend. Anyway, we decided to put the two outcast Orpingtons in it and called around to several people we found on Craigslist. One woman had a bunch of Orps she wanted to sell so I made arrangements to pick them up yesterday. About an hour after I called her, she called me to say somebody came and bought ALL of them. We made a few other phone calls and left messages but haven't heard back from anyone yet and I doubt we will. Didn't realize how popular chickens are!! Good luck in your search. How are your chickens doing?

Congratulations~ There are so many new options for weddings these days which is really nice. Those big, gaudy rooms with gold laced mirrors and mediocre food were getting pretty old! If I could do it all over again I'd choose a barn wedding or one of the local wineries. The next few weeks are going to be insanely busy. My oldest DD is getting married in October. We're having her bridal shower @ home. We're renting a tent and doing an Alice in Wonderland Tea Party theme. I've been trying to spruce up the gardens before I start the cooking and cleaning marathon. We're also catering some of it which will help. I'm totally stressing about it already but excited too. I have a few very judgmental city slicker family members coming and feel the need to decorate the chicken coops. Ideas please? Those tissue paper wedding bells and streamers? Maybe a Goodwill/thrift shop bridal gown hanging on the run? Help! Earlier this week we had a 3rd girl who started laying but we're back down to 2 eggs/day. Yesterday's egg was a BIG one. The other one was the same size they've been since we've been getting eggs. Medium-sized if I had to guess. Hopefully we'll be getting more and more everyday. I have to make 2 quiches for the shower LOL

Only two eggs a day! Still waiting for the rest to jump on board! Where can I find the wooden eggs to put into the nesting boxes. I have one golf ball, but it doesn't seem to be working. Maybe I should have used my pink ones?
