Hudson Valley NY *chat thread*

Hi everyone!!!

Does anyone know of anyone in the Sullivan County area that might be willing to help someone transport 5 potbellied pigs? My cousin moved and was unable to take the pigs with them. So, she has to either find homes for them or bring them to a rescue. They found a rescue willing to take them, but they don't have access to a trailer to move them with. Any thoughts? They really don't want to make bacon out of them. She is also selling the house in Glen Spey if anyone is looking for a nice, developed bit of property (house with attached apartment), garage, 2 coops, corral, fenced garden, fire pit, bbq, decks, etc... (just throwing it out there in case someone is looking).

Its is warm out! All my lovely snow is gone lol and man! Did it rain out hard this morning!!but my chickens are enjoying some freedom right now..I havnt let them out of the pen in acouple days. Tonight it going to be so cold!
Next PITA issue:: The MUD !!!!!! Ugh!
Well...it's frozen mud now. The temperature dropped so quickly!

I know someone who is looking to adopt one, don't know if that helps.....
I am certain they would be overjoyed to find a home for one or all of them if it keeps them out of the rescue and/or the freezer. They are full grown though, would this person be willing to adopt an adult? If so, pm me the info and I will send them each other's emails and such.

Goooood Morning Everybody~

Looking forward to this weekend too! 50 Deg. will feel wonderful.
Somebody please remind me of this polar vortex crapola when we're in the throes of the summer heat and humidity!

Lexi: Let me know when you're ready to come over to do my kitchen. I'm a sucker for odd dishes, bowls and kitchen gadgets so things are a bit out of control. Going to a Pampered Chef party next weekend. Not good....

carousel86...how are you? All is well w/your chickens I hope!

JerseyHen...sounds like your cousin has a great piece of property. I hope she finds a home for those adorable pigs. I asked my husband if I could take one. He said "Are you OUT of your MIND?!!!" ((why yes I am....what's his point?!))

brookyndiane! How's things? As I recall, you were looking for more chickens. Did you get more? Enjoying them I hope! Getting eggs yet...?

Well...I must get back to work. Have a great day :)

LSzajko, my chickens are doing good but the roosters have frostbite on their combs. I can't do anything about it because they won't let me pick them up. I just got done cleaning the coop out. I feel sorry for them, it's been so so cold. I got my sixteen year old son mad at me yesterday because I made him wear pants to school. He lives in his shorts all year long. He got over it lol.

SHORTS?!!! Is he crazy?!!! LOL I feel bad for the chickens too. This weather is totally miserable. I checked on mine yesterday and didn't see any signs of frostbite but they practically knocked me over when they saw I had (unfrozen) water and oatmeal. Thankfully the temps will be in the 40's this weekend. I'm going to let them out to wander first thing in the morning. They have to be so bored! Winter weather definitely complicates chicken-keeping!!
