Hudson Valley NY *chat thread*

That stinks. I have eggs on order for spring and i am afraid of wasting my money on shipped eggs. I wonder if you can insure the package?

You can insure the package.I have filed a claim online. This is actually the first time any of my eggs have gotten lost or really delayed. I only had one other claim which was for eggs aswell but the box was so damaged, it looked like somone dropped kicked it.

I got my 2nd order of eggs this morning. .all pretty much scrambled and 2 cracked..still didnt get the 1st eggs

Do you think they're still viable? Were you able to trace where the 1st eggs are? If it's any consolation, Fed Ex isn't much better. DH ordered a muffler for his truck earlier this week...due to be delivered Thursday. According to Fed Ex's online tracking it was delivered to someone in New Windsor at 2:15 Thursday. Needless to say, he had to jump through hoops calling Fed Ex and had it traced. They were clueless, of course. The driver had to pick it up at the (wrong) house and re-deliver it. He finally got it yesterday. Stooopid.

And well....proof positive my DH and I are dangerous on road trips. We were on our way to NJ today and decided to find a TSC en route either to/from my mom's. With Siri's help, we went to the TSC in Ringoes, NJ and they just happened to have the Farm Innovator incubator in stock for $129.99. It jumped out at us and said "Buy me!" so we did. Hope it's not a hunk o' junk.

I dont know if the eggs are good or not..all the air sacs where detached and acouple air sacs turned into tons of tiny bubbles (pretty sure thoes are dead). I got a call the other day from USPS Customer Affairs in Albany NY yesterday , the lady told me they have been holding my 1st package because the package said "Live Embryos" on it.......then said they had concerns from employees that they might be human embryos. WTH!!!!! First off...the package also says "Live Eggs" and "Silver Laced" ..Apparently im buying silver laced human eggs..stupid idiots. Iv been getting packages in the mail for years now that says "live embryos"..and just now they deside to be concerned!!!! They had my eggs for days before they decided to give me a call..but anyways, I got them today and all have detached air sacs..I dont expect any to hatch because its been about 13 days.
I hope the incubator works out for you, they are ok for starting out..I use to have that one but it was always frying my eggs..so I had to upgrade to the genesis, best thing I ever did!

I bought all my chicken from there. They are doing great! I just order WH duckling from Holderead. I'm not going to have them shipped until April.

I just dont want hatchery birds..I have some hatchery SL wyandottes and they are really pathetic looking next to a good quality wyandotte.
Whats Holderead? Is it a hatchery? And also what kind of ducks are you getting? I dont know enough about them to know what the "WH" stands for :/

I can understand they need to know if they're shipping/receiving anything potentially dangerous, hazardous, explosive, etc., but the box clearly stated it contained EGGS!!!

Sometimes it seems as if they're too careful with the harmless stuff but as soon as their guard is down, some thug will walk in and ship a ticking box with no questions asked. Incredible...

Re: the incubator. Not letting my hopes up. We've been really bored (which is when we become dangerous!) DH has been hovering over it since last night double and triple-checking the temperature with the thermometer that came with it as well as a temperature gauge he uses for work.He just put 8 eggs in there. We shall see!
