Thanks Joan! I'll look for that timetable. I don't think it was very much...maybe 3 grocery-bags full and the garden is pretty big. I still have to clean out the litter in that coop. DH only scooped out the poop board to till into the garden. I cleaned the other coop on Sunday and piled the litter in the woods since we have a composter full of good stuff almost ready to use and I didn't want a big pile hanging around our property for the dogs to snack on.

Whoa! Great hatches!!! what did you hatch? I have mostly buff orpington eggs in the incubator...Mr. Blue (a blue orpington) is the baby daddy. Not sure what the chicks will be if they hatch (Splash?) There's also a black orpington hen and EE's in that coop so I assume some of their eggs could be in there also. This is our 2nd attempt at hatching. The first time we tried the eggs were duds. If these eggs hatch I will surely be addicted to hatching. So many chickens not enough room in the coops!

How old are your kids? They do tend to keep us hopping. I have 4 kids (26, 24, 18 & 8). I think my 8 yr. old keeps me busier than the older 3 ever did. Or maybe I just had more energy when they were young. My chickens keep me sane (sort of).

Good luck with the duck hatch ! Keep us posted

I hatched 3 Cream Legbars (boys, was hoping for at least 1 girl :( ), 2 Blue Wheaton Ameraucanas, 2 Splash Ameraucanas, 3 Blue Copper Marans (looks like 2 blacks & a splash). Also 13 mixed eggs, EEs, Welsummers, Barnevelders, Marans, etc.

You're going to have some gorgeous Orpingtons! Splash would be nice.

My kids are 13, 11, and almost 7.

Erica the last chick didn't made it out of the shell

so as of right now I have 5 and one pipping. I guess that not bad for my first hatch. The only thing is I started with 18 eggs. 4 wasn't good by day 10 and 2 die hatching and 7 not doing anything. I was hoping for 12 chicks but 6 would be good. What kind of duck are you hatching?

Did the 6th one hatch? My very first hatch, only one egg out of (I think) 7 hatched. 6 is a good number of chicks. The duck eggs are mixed eggs, Cayuga, Rouen, & Pekin. Should be interesting. They're due to hatch tomorrow.

Hope your kids are feeling better & didn't pass it to anyone else in your family. Its so contagious. The stomach bug is going through our school district (Hyde Park) like crazy.

Erica, chick 6 just died help him out of his shell this morning but he was so weak. I have 5 chicks all doing great! 6 still in the incubator don't think they are going to hatch. Started out with 18 eggs 4 didn't make it before lockdown. I'm on day 23. Tomorrow I'm going to clean out the bator and call it a day! I have a LG still air incubator and couldn't get the humidity up. Can't wait to see what your duckling looks like! Good luck on you hatch! I ordered Welsh Harlequin duckling, they are going to be shipping on the 21th. So excited!
