Hudson Valley NY *chat thread*

Make shift hen saddle out of duct tape. Sorry for not clarifying. I whipped up a new saddle out of denim and elastic hair ties this morning. Double strap this time as the single one she wore at 6 weeks she managed to get a wing free a couple times. She seems fine and happy now and the queen biatch is giving it those sideways stink eye looks. Just made their Saturday treat. Chunked apples with peanut butter, meal worms and happy hen treats. Feel the love!

That clears things up a bit! Sounds ingenious. I wish i had the skills to just whip up a hen saddle! With duct tape or a sewing machine...

I ordered my duckling at Holderread online. Fast shipment, they sent them on Monday night and I got them on Wednesday morning at 6 am they called me to pick them up at the post office. They are 4 weeks today! Growing big fast!

Ok, I may or may not have a good idea.. Who locally has ducks?

Bonnie & Clyde are cute. Glad they are doing well, and the little chicks too. I also have ducks. Love them. We have some mixed Rouen/Pekin/Cayuga ducklings, a Khaki Campbell & a Crested. Our Khaki Campbell & KC/Runner eggs are due to hatch the first week in June if you're interested in some ducklings.

Carousel- just curious, how many of your ducklings are female?

You should have been at the sussex show this weekend. There was a guy in the sales area with 10 different breeds of ducklings ($5 each) AND hatching eggs ($5 a dozen). A friend of mine got 3 dozen eggs and is hatching them now. If I didn't have chicken eggs in my incubator I would have done the same. So, I know someone who will be selling ducklings in a few weeks.

No worries LSzajko, the chicks are being looked after not only by me and my son, but by our Border Collie, Skye, as well. She's gonna be a good mama to them!

Sorry, I thought I replied to this yesterday. I must not have clicked on reply.
Do you know what kind of ducks your friend will have?
