Hudson Valley NY *chat thread*

Hi Jerseygirl1, I wanted to ask if your silkies were bearded or not? Also you mention you sell birds, how old are they the ones you sell? Do you have pictures?
My silkies are bearded. Though until the spring I won't be selling anything. The silkies and frizzled seramas are in the same pen and until I separate them, I cant sell them as pures. The seramas I am selling grown birds as I don't have room for them. I have eggs in the bator now, but they are mixed frizzles and silkies. The bielefelders, once they start laying, I will sell eggs sporadicaly, since they don't lay that well.

These are my newest birds I will hatch from this year.

My Bielefelder lay pretty well for a not being a hybrid production or leghorn. I didn't use a light this winter & the adult hen stopped laying, but the pullets when there was only 10hrs of daylight. I'd say about 5-7 eggs per week a pullet. They slow down a little once they're an adult hen, but still better than other breeds I've tried. Not to mention, just gorgeous chickens!

I live in Chester, NY and am looking to *** 6 hens to my flock of 6 (1 roo and 5 ladies).

I'm looking for 2 Spanish (preferably female) chicks. I'm also looking for welsummers, easter eggers, and a bantam frizzle cochin :)

Hello Everybody~

Gearing up to add a few to our flock. Does anyone know where I can get French Copper Marans and/or Welsummers hatching eggs? I'd also like an EE hatching egg or 2.

The new Tractor Supply opened in New Windsor. Hopefully they'll be getting some chicks although I think if they will have them, they'll mainly have red sex-links as they don't usually carry a wide variety of breeds...that's IF they have them at all. Not sure if NW is a chicken friendly zone. I've had chickens for a few years and nobody has bothered me about them but I have a couple of acres and no roosters to disturb the peace!

Regards to all~
:)

I didn't know there was a new tractor supply in new Windsor. I was in new Windsor yesterday...I would have gone! If you go on Hudson valley craigslist there is a bcm breeder in Danbury, ct. They usually sell hatching eggs, chicks and birds depending on the time of year. But they always have listings up for something, so you could email them and see if they have any hatching eggs.
