Huge Chicken Coop

If the wire is that shown in the photo in your profile that is standard poultry netting. If you have not had losses then consider yourself lucky, but do not attribute out to the wire being secure. Do you secure the birds inside the coop during roosting hours? That is one approach that can help protect birds when poultry netting is in use

I do not lock up my chickens at night. They are free to go in and out as they choose. I have a trail cam set up and there are predators every few days that try to get in. Chicken wire is great against predators.

No it is not heavy enough metal to keep out a dog or a raccoon or bobcat or just about anything else. Mice can squeeze in, so can snakes. You want hardware cloth 1/2 inch openings.
Good luck

Gary
I would love it if mice or snakes came into my chicken coop. It would give them a tasty snack.

Not my coop, but Racoon easily tore through. If teeth can fit through the mesh, it's game over! You have been lucky.

You must have a great rooster, I am in the city and when I had a roo, he was the best protection. Now that I can't have one, I have to be more vigilant. Also areas for hens to hide are helpful during the day, but mine do get locked up for their protection at night and I still have possum problems.

I actually have a silkie rooster. It is my guinea fowl that alert me of predators so I can scare them off.
