I've been having trouble with one of my hens laying soft eggs and double yolk eggs here and there. Its not from lack of calcium. its almost like she just goes through the egg process to quick. I KNOW she had laid 12 hours apart i watched her lay a soft and and then recorded her laying a regular egg 12 hours later. She didn't lay the last couple of days which is odd and today she laid a huge egg. Any ideas what is going on with her? 22 weeks old maybe isa brown? Its too big for the egg carton if that gives you an idea on the size (pics doesn't do it justice). It had to hurt!

I’m going to bet it’s a double yolk egg. Perfectly normal, but keep an eye out for ‘off’ behavior just in case they develop an egg that’s truly too large.
Chances are they will never have issues.
Enjoy those beautiful eggs!

The size and the regularity of the eggs will vary during the first couple months of the ladies getting into a cycle of laying. I have gotten HUGE eggs that would not fit in the cartons as well. My family fights over them, wanting to have the double yokes to eat. Hang in there.
