Huge Egg

My DP found this in the coop today and its massive (well the biggest egg from a chuck I've ever seen). Its 7cm from tip to bottom. Made me think of the poor hen that had to lay it. Not sure which one did it yet.

I does make you feel for the hens, huh? Our girls give us a large one every once in a while, too - the kind that wouldn't fit in the "jumbo" carton! They often are double yolked, too.

how many eggs do u get in a day? because one of my chickens started laying huge eggs, and then she would start laying inconsistantly, it was like she could only lay big eggs and so her body had to wait till it was big enuff, finally it got to b to much for her and she had eggs brake inside of her 2 times both almost proving fatal. i just hope its not a cycle she has. she hadnt layed an egg in over 2 months, until yesterday another matcho sized egg. keep a close eye on her just to make sure she's laying consistantly and everything is good with her.

Oh no

I'm not sure which hen its from and we've only had the one today. Normally we get 2 a day and the last couple of days we've had a full house of 3. They are still quite new to laying (6 weeks or so).

I'll have to have a watch out now then.
