HUGE egg?

One of my coturnix quail layed a HUGE egg. Looks almost double the size it should be, but doesnt look double yolk. Its shaped and looks the same as the smaller eggs normally layed but its just huge!!

What could cause this? Will the egg hatch if incubated? If it does, will it hatch a large bird?

Ouch. Just hearing about this hurts. Poor thing.

Is she a new layer? Usually the first eggs are small, but this one sounds like a bruiser (pun intendend).

I think all you can do is wait and see?

i had a huge one last month and i but it in the incubator and seemed to grow slower than the others.Ended up quiting

Nope she is not a new layer - thankfully.

Alright, thanks for the information! Ill put it in the incubator when i collect enough eggs and see what happens!
