My one year old EE hen maybe weekly and bi weekly lays these HUGE double yolk eggs. Tonight she was majorly stressed and I thought it was the heat as it went from 40 to 80 In SW Idaho in 5 minutes. I was worried. 30 minutes later she comes out of the coop and I find this. I’ve been told within the first year it’s normal and she’s a bigger hen but she scared me a bit tonight. Why is this happening so often and is it ok?

Well yes, it is quite common. My family always thought it was a great start of the day to get a double yolkier, like good luck.

No there is nothing you can do about it. Generally it stops happening. I had a BO that laid doulble yolk eggs most of the 1st laying season, the second year, she started laying that way and then occasionally, and the third year there were none.

Each bird is unique, don't stress about it.
