Your welcome! My rooster's a good one and is non-aggressive, and he make's nice chick's. I just can't keep all of his son's because I don't want any inbreeding going on.

Maybe he will be the one we keep. I did not plan on a rooster because we have a mixed flock. We got 2 straight run silkies and I promised my 7yr old that if his snowball was a boy, we would keep him. Maybe I can talk my friend into having one. If you have a rooster in flock how often do you end up with chicks?

Unless you got that turken cockerel out of a bantam bin, he's going to grow big. He will have to be kept with the bigger breed's. The silkie's will be too small to be in the same pen, as they could get hurt. Silkie's are more of a delicate breed.

You will only end up with chick's if you let the egg's hatch. I don't free range my flock, so they can't have a hidden nest somewhere. I currently do have a broody. I take the real egg's away from her, and she still sit's on the plastic egg's. I do my chick hatching in my incubator.

You end up with chicks if you incubate or let a broody hen hatch

At what age can You tell what sex a chick is?

Sometime's it depend's on what breed it is. Basically watch for the comb growth. The male's will be bigger and lean more to the darker pink, and the wattle's will drop faster. The Naked Neck's are easier to tell earlier, because they don't have all of that feathering to cover them up.
