When I got my 6 Ridgeway New Hampshire pullets, the man at the feed store said that they will be about 12 weeks old when they start laying. Mine are turning 9 weeks old tomorrow. My friends dad has a ton of chickens and said mine will start laying in December. Just to give you a timeline, I bought mine on Wednesday april 23. I need some advice on when they should start laying and will they become broody around the time they lay their first eggs?

Most usually don't start laying until somewhere around 20 weeks. Some lay sooner, around 14 weeks, some later.

Not all hens go broody - my MIL had chickens for over 2 years and not a single one ever went broody.
