Human Perch

#2 gave good advice about pinning her down. Hen or roo it's about demonstrating you are alpha. She was chasing you down to bully you. Have you had any progress since posting this thread?

Yes i have had progress, she has chased me down a few times since and i pinned her every time and seems she has got the picture. It's a rainy day here and this is the first rain they have ever seen so some are not coming out of the run yet to scavange the yard for those tasty worms but im sure once the mean sister roams they will follow.

A birds boldness is astonishing. I remember living in nyc and the pigeons were crazy. They acted like people were in THEIR WAY. Numerous times I had to just step over them because they refused to move. It still blows my mind that chickens and roos attack people. It is the equivilant of humans picking a fight with a giant. I guess it would be quite the ego boost if you dominate such a massive beast...

" It was a complete 180. I damaged his ego big time. Now he goes after everyones legs & feet. Sometimes I give him a stare and he back off. But he picks fights now - the jerk. I should have let him die in the rain that day! That b*$t@** better never go for my face!!"

Birds of Anarchy,

I just howled when I read this! It sounds just like my love/hate relationship with my Ameraucana rooster! The expletives fly when necessary :).

It totally is a love/hate relationship (except HE only HATES me). I pinned him down several times this morning at his half attempts to attack me. I had him in my hands and I was thinking I could just wander 10 minutes into the woods and drop you off. I really should! At least he could have to a Chance to fight his way up the food chain. Otherwise all I have to do is call up any person in my phone and Rachel would be chicken soup in no time.

Ugh! Something in me just doesn't want to kill this bugger. I'm usually extremely kind hearted towards animals but lately this roo & my pain in the butt beagle have brought me to the end of my line. I should tie the 2 of them together and leave BOTH of them in the woods! My beagle would actually love that. Lol

I ended up with my roo just as you did yours. He was "Ella" until he crowed, then he became "Eli". Even as a youngster, he was aggressive, but he's gotten a little better as he's gotten older. He and I have played "Football" a few times because I could never catch him, even if I tried. If he gets sick, he's on his own - I hate to say that, but he'd never tolerate being caught and being handled would just scare him to death. He usually gives me a wide berth, but sometimes forgets himself :).

Have had no problems with her the last day or so, so i think she got the point, now she decided to start laying and has plopped to eggs out but both cracked ecause she hasnt tried the nesting ox yet, i have some golf balls in there to help, will see what she does tomorow.
