Humidair Drum-type incubator

Not yet, I purchased adults late spring this year at a swap. I could not believe my eyes when I saw them

and buff dews at that! I just knew they would be out of my price range(well, they were dewlaps after all). When the guy told me the price...

He told me they were nice BUFF GEESE , he had no idea they were dewlaps

I am hoping they will be productive...either way they are here to stay !

Do you know how old your gander is? I have it on good authority that after three years the fertility in ganders goes WAY down, just an FYI. My buff gander is approaching that.

I have no clue as to how old they are..but hopefully with 2 ganders

they will produce some fertile eggs. Thanks for that info I did not know that.

I have had a chance to poke around my new incubator a bit more. I took some pictures and posted them to my blog.

My main questions right now concern what some of the electrical bits do and how they work together. This piece looks like a timer?

And then there is what I've discovered is a thermometer or hygrometer and a thermostat (heat wafer)?

There is a heat strip in the bottom, below the fan, and they are plugged into an outlet inside the drum, which is wired back to the junction where the heat wafer is.

In the main fusebox there is a mercury switch and it seems to be connected to the motor that turns the drum.

If anyone who knows how these incubators work could give me a better idea of how all these parts are interconnected, I would really appreciate it. I need to wire a new plug onto it before I can test any of the electrical components, but first I was trying to understand what they do.
