My humidity has been 50-55% throughout incubation and today is lockdown day. I can't get my humidity above 61% and from what I read it should be 65-75%? But every post I read says something different. Can anyone give me an answer?

You're current humidity is fine. I keep mine 50-60% at lockdown and my last hatch rate was 100% with no assistance.

Thank you! I've been stressing about it all morning 😫
We have all been there especially with those first few hatches the stress on figuring what works best for you can be overwhelming. I will say that hatching is almost an art in that you will over time figure out that certain things work better for you and some things do not. Good luck on your hatch!

I agree your current humidity should be fine.

I recommend and prefer 35-45% humidity for the first 18 days.. especially for darker colored eggs, less chance of drowning at pip as well as better hatch rates for most who try it.

IF you need to up humidity.. then some folks will drop in a wet sponge in addition to whatever wells/trays are already filled.

What color eggs (or breed) are you hatching? What bator are you using? Did you use built in sensors or also add in your own calibrated thermometer/hugrometer?

Check out my favorite technical hatching resource..

At lockdown I do aim for 65% humidity.. and note that when hatching starts it *may* spike higher than that. Lower humidity hatching also goes fine and this whole high humidity hatching thing is a bit over rated.

Happy hatching! :jumpy:jumpy
