Humidity Debate!

Hi Everyone!!! I am a former Preschool teacher and have hatched chicken eggs before, but this is my first time to hatch duck eggs! Muscovy duck eggs at that!!! They are FINALLY pipping today on Day 32. I'm so confused as to what humidity I should have my incubator set to? Some sites say like 85 and some say 60!!! Please help!!!! They should be hatching soon, I don't want to jeopardize them!!!!!

I'll be in your shoes soon. We are incubating Muscovies too. I'd aim for 65%-75%. 85% just seems a bit on the high side to me considering the chicks hatching will themselves increase the humidity. Good luck and I'd love to see your babies when they hatch and are in their brooder. We are on day 23 and it feels like we've been waiting forever!

Thank you so much for responding!! I poked some tissues through the wire mesh in the incubator to help soak up some water in the trough and opened a vent hole. I'm at 60% percent now and feel much better about that!!! It's day 33 and most have started pipping and one little guy is determined to meet the world today!!! I'm sending videos to my 4 & 6 year old granddaughters so they can experience the excitement too!!!! I'm loving hearing their peeps!!! Good Luck to you too!!!!

YAY!!!!!! My first duckling hatched!!!!! Strong little baby hatched 2 days early!!!! Woo Hoo! Waiting on the other 10 now! He is so sweet, he is cuddling up to an egg that has pipped and peeping. It's like he is cheering him on to come out and play!!!

So cute! I showed my kids your photo and my son said, "Wait, is that in our incubator"? I had to break it to him that we still have about a week to go. We do feel like we've been waiting forever!
