Humidity Debate!

These babies are driving me crazy. It seems like they are waiting for everyone to be ready before they internally pip. I still have one that appears to have just a little more space to fill but it's still moving. There are 6 now - I did have 7 but one stopped growing a couple of days ago (maybe more) so I've removed it now.

I can see 5 pressing up against the membrane but none have pipped internally yet.

How loud are they when they have pipped internally? It's just the incubator is in a cupboard outside of the kids bedrooms so if they are going to peep all night (when things finally get moving) I'll have to move it.

Hi!!! You have the Muscovy breed of ducks too, these sweet little guys aren't loud peepers! I had my incubator in our office and I couldn't hear them unless I was right next to the incubator. Just in my short experience with these guys, they just peep when they are hungry - I made mash for them 4 times a day. At night, they are like perfect babies, they sleep all night EXCEPT approx 8 hours after you took their water away for the night (6:30 am) they peep loudly because they are hungry and thirsty!!! Today, I rigged up a platform for their water and food, that others had described. I just put pine shavings in their brooder today, no soft towel over it and they have done great! Tonight they will be able to keep their water and food, since it's not soaking wet in there any longer!! Yay!!! I empty and clean their brooder every day and replace with fresh shavings and washed waterer & feeder, they are poopy little messers- good thing they are so adorable!!!

One day they'll hatch, lol. What day is it?

We've just started day 30. The kids are being more patient than me! 🤣
Haha! It's so hard to tend do them all that time and then when it comes down to just one or two more days, it's SO hard! You can do it! I never knew I could get so attached to eggs 😂

It's such a marathon with ducks, especially Muscovies! I don't think I'll sleep much for the next few days. I woke up before 3am this morning and that was it, I was awake. I'm trying to keep busy but I do keep checking on the temperature and humidity.

Aw! Try to get some good sleep tonight. Remember, a watched pot never boils. Ducks do take ages, they love to drag it out. It will all be worth it in a few days when you're cuddling your baby duckies! 🥰

We finally have two squeaking eggs. No external pips yet so we've still got a ways to go. The kids loved hearing the squeak when I held the egg up to their ear (so did I). The other 4 eggs are all still alive. Getting excited now! :wee
