Humidity/Dew Point & Frostbite

you don't want a heater....that is one of the worse things to do...it will increase the humidity...and the chickens will not acclimate to the cold outside the coop...
they like the cold a lot more than the heat!

x2 I totally agree with you JodyJo

Thank you for this insite.

My vents measure the following:
2 @ 12"x16"
2 @ 12"x10"
2 @ 16"x16"
1 @ 24"x32"

Will I need to add even more and if so, should they be placed on all walls or mainly above the roost? By the way I have 13 girls.

***Update***

Last evening I checked the humidity level and it read 79% but it had been raining all day and continues today, so this morning before 7am I checked the reading again and it sat at 81% only 2% increase which is nuts, if it's not raining there seemed to be about a 15-20% increase at night?

I plan on adding (2) 8ft x 3.5in soffit vents this weekend which should give me more than enough per bird ventilation don't you think?

Since the cold has come, I can't use the 2 windows toward my calculations, because some of the birds want to roost right in front of them.
