Humidity for BCM eggs

I've hatched out probably about 160 to 200 BCM's....My best results were 45 to 55% humidity first 18 days and then 66 to 82% humidity the last 3 .....even with those high levels, I had to do warm water mists. The shells are extremely thick. This is my using a Dickey like handmade incubator, self rotating, fans, and auto humidity pan.

Well you said babies or was it me and I have to post a pic:

I've never tried drier. I just know that even in the muggy south I must keep the humidity high!

So Cute!!! Thanks for the pic. I think the thick shell is the problem. They don't loose enough moisture for the chick to be able to pip into the air. They pip into water and drowned. Before I picked them up I read to sand the end with sand paper to help them hatch. When I told her that she said 'please don't sand them'. She did say I would probably have to help some out.

I know that some sellers require you to follow their instructions for hatching if you expect them to guarantee a certain percentage for hatch rate, which yes some do!

I have some going in to the hatching tomorrow and don't plan on doing anything different than I usually do!

Good luck with yours!
