Hi All,
I'm setting my runner duck eggs today in my brand new Brinsea Oct 20 with auto cradle. I'm a first timer and was wondering how you all monitor the humidity. As I do research I understand the importance of humidity, but am not sure how best to monitor- fill the water tubes and let the machine do it's thing, get a hygrometer or do the weighing and calculations?
Wish me luck!

Hi, I have the octagon eco 20, and I just buckled and bought a cheapo hygrometer. I've had the incubator for two years now, and my hatches have varied from 80% to 50% success rate.. I attribute the poorer hatches to humidity. I have a batch in he bator now, due to hatch on the 20th. Hopefully the hygrometer helps. Have you downloaded the brinsea manual? It can tell you where to set the vent and how much water to put in for duck eggs. But, my hygrometer cost me $3, so, i would recommend getting one. It won't hurt, and can only help.
