Humidity in my incubator won't increase?

You may be doing what I did. I bought a new digital thermometer/hydrometer. It's the kind that has a wire that can be run out side, so you can have a indoor and outdoor temperature reading. Well, I thought the humidity gage was on the end of that wire with the outdoor temp. So, I had the wire running inside the incubator with the base outside the incubator. I had wet paper towels all over the free surface of that bator and water pools filled, but still couldn't it the humidity above 44%.

it was like someone had turned on a light bulb in my head. I picked up the base/digital readout, breathed hot breath from my mouth into the opening on the back side and the humidity shot up to 70%. I now have the entire digital thermometer/hydrometer sitting in the bator. I hope this "duh" moment helps someone besides me.
I was having the same issues with not being able to get the humidity % up. I did as Random0524 suggested and walla! My humidity was way too high at day 14. Thanks so much for your suggestion.

I did a little research and found one with a probe for the humidity and a probe for the temp.... but I usually have several in my bator, just to double check

I hate to drag up an old thread but can anyone suggest a hydrometer/ thermometer combo that they have had success with??

I have had some issues with my hatch rate and in my new to me incubator I cant some to keep humidity up.

I've been trying so hard to raise the humidity in my incubator. I just read what you wrote and that is exactly what I was dealing with and didn't realize it. Totally a duh moment. Thank you!

Omg I have done exactly the same :hmm

Hi all,
I have an incubator that has two outside water recepticles that flow in under the tray for the humidity and one little air vent on the lid. For the last 3 days of the incubation period, the instructions say to use BOTH of the water recepticles to get the humidity up to around 70% (65-75% is supposed to be ok, but I'd like to go for the middle...), but they also say to open that little vent ALL the way, which makes the humidity refuse to rise. We are at 64 and it won't go any higher, already halfway through the first of the three days. I have even been trying to siphen out some of the cooled water in the water recepticles and replacing it with warm, which seemed to work for a minute...but now we're stuck! Have never done this before, so would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give!
