Humidity increases with incubation period

Hey guys,
I have around 20 chicken eggs in a hovabator. I am on day 17. Ive noticed that the humidity in my incubator has risen to over 60 in the last couple of days. I dont understand this as i havent added any water as the atmospheric humidity here is already high.
I have candled a few eggs and there seems to be atleast 6-7 embryos developing fine, atleast.
Can anyone give an explanation to this phenomenon?

Your humidity inside the incubator is probably rising as your ambient humidity is rising naturally. What has your humidity been throughout most of the first 17 days? Do you have a separate, calibrated hygrometer in your incubator? And how do your air cells look for day 17, big, small, just right?

The ambient humidity has been between 40-50 since i started. I suspect that the humidity inside of the incubator was lesser than this. Upon checking the eggs and comparing them with photos on this forum, i found the air sac as normal: not small but not too big either.

Well you should be good for lockdown then. I would just recommend having a calibrated hygrometer in the incubator to check your humidity accurately. Good luck on the hatch!
