i just put my hatching eggs in incubator. Humidity was 65 and now up to 76. Should I just give it some time or try to get some of the water out of the bottom. I am a newbie and don’t want to harm the eggs.

Hi, welcome to BYC! :frow

I would get the water out of the bottom. Run completely dry to see where your humidity level is and add water if needed, one well at a time.

I keep it around 40-45% for the first 18 days and raise to 65% for lock down, days 18-21 for chicken eggs.

Good luck! :jumpy

Beyond that... relying on the incubator controls solely to tell you temp and humidity doesn't always work out well. Having calibrated instruments helps to ensure good hatches. So if you end up with issues, that would be the first place I would consider looking.

Thanks sooo much. I have all water out and still showing 70% humidity. We live in the south, I have no idea if that is causing it. Getting a hygrometer tomorrow.

If you just removed the water, it may take a little while to stabilize. But I highly agree that independent calibrated meters are essential! Look for a dual thermo/hygrometer and test it for accuracy before you put it in the incubator.
