just got a LG incubator second hand. i got temp the ok. just wondering how much water and what kind of receptacle should i use. as of now i have a pimento jar(small one) with an inch of water in it.

any help would be greatly appreciated

I do not add water to my LG I do a dry hatch but you will not really need to add water to it if need be till the last 3 days when you need to bring it up to 60%. You will laugh but this is what I did. I got one of my DD's maxi pads and I left the tape on it and I laid in the bator where its just under the vent holes. Then i took a piece of tubing I had some left over from a repair I had to do with my fish tank. So when I need to bring the humidity up I just took a syringe that I had, and shoot it down the tube and the water goes on the maxi pad. This way if i needed more i could add it and it absorb the water and did not evaporate as fast.
I have also used sponges and did this, But you can use small jars the same way. The key is once it is at lock down you do not want to open up your bator for any reason.

I am trying to find my sheet for the humidity that I use and worked for me but having a hard time finding it right now.
I am thinking you want to be at about 30-35% for some reason then 65% at lock down and that is the last three days before they hatch. Now as they start to hatch your humidity will go up so if it goes to high i just lift one of the clear doors up so its just barely open to let some of the heat out and then just push it back down. That worked for me. Let me see if I can find my sheet or a post about the humidity and I will forward it to you.
