I have a Brinsea incubator. What should the humidity levels be in it or any other incubator? I have never worried about it before and had good success. This is my first use of the Brinsea. It seems to be staying around 60%.
My Brinsea directions read, for the first 18 days, humidity needs to be 40-50%. I stayed around 45%. When hatching starts, it needs to be 65% or more, so I stayed around 66-69%. By the way, I use a Brinsea 20 ECO.
I run about 40 ish for the first 18 then up to 60 for hatching (once the first egg hatches the humidity spikes so I went with the low side of the range for hatching).
How did you guys accomplish the 40-50% ranges. We also have the Brinsea 20 Eco. I have the vent all of the way open and one of the trays has water about half of the way full.
Hi, I'm certainly no expert having just hatched our first batch in an incubator. I also have the Brinsea 20 Eco and hatched 12 out of 13 fertile eggs. You may think poorly of me but I did not read the humidity. I just kept the temp around 99.5 using the supplied glass thermometer. I kept one channel 3/4 full as stated in the directions for day 1-18. I had to add more water every other day to keep it at the 3/4 level. I also kept the vent at 1/2 open. Day 19 on I kept both channels completely full per the directions. We just turned the unit by hand about six times per day for the first 18 days. Our chicks are all healthy and happy and I couldn't be more thrilled with this incubator.
I began with the vent halfway, and one tray filled up almost to the top. See what your humidity is without a tray filled up. You might not need it, but I don't know. I am still a first timer. XD
