I am very new to this site and to human assisted chicken hatching. One of the things that surprised me was the obsession with humidity. I was thinking there are some pretty whacky people here. Before I got my first batch of "proof of concept" eggs I decided to get a Meade TM005X-M Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermo Hygrometer. The bator was warmed, I drove 50 miles to get some fresh fertile eggs and joined the circus. WIth the auto turner I dont have to open the bator at all till I candle on day 10.![]()
I now have a remote sensor with min and max humidity and temp alongside my bed. I have joined the whack and depraved.![]()

Just FYI Brinsea sells a bator that has a cool down cycle.as hens get off the eggs when they hatch and consensus is it gives 3% better hatch rate tocool down here and there so dont worry about opening here and there until lockdown. .Its actually ok up to 12 hours cool down (Dont know if i would ever let mine cool that long maybe 15 minutes but thats what" they" say)
Does make me mad when my humidity goes to 15 durning the night though b/.c i am too tired to get up and check it. You have that solved!
And HELLO From Missouri Glad to have you!
Join the hatch a long threads if you havent its fun and informative..
