Sorry I haven't been back on and had to catch up reading today. My hatch went great! I had 11 hatch out of 12 that went into lockdown. I started with 16 eggs intially. One was broken when I candled before starting the process. 3 were clear when I wnet into lockdown. I'm not good at cracking open the eggs after incubating. So I'm not sure if they were even fertile. I did crack open the 12 egg that didn't hatch saw feathers and goo then tossed it. Didn't want to look for anything else. So I don't know at what stage it quit. I went into lock down on friday night (Nov 30) one was already pipped when I took them out of the turners. I didn't add water underneath the eggs in the tray but added a syrofoam meat tray with two sponges in it and filed that with water. I set them upright in egg racks instead of laying on their sides. I thought sure I would have something on Saturday morning but I didn't, but I did have several more pipped at that time. Checked Saturday afternoon and evening. Nothing. The tray with sponges looked empty so I took some airline tubing and put it in the vent holes and added water to them. I left the plug out of the incubator the whole time also and the fan was running. Checked the eggs again at midnight. Still no progress on any of them. I was a little dissappinted when I headed for bed. But I knew they weren't supposed to hatch until Sunday so I was good and left everything alone. I woke up at 7 am Sunday morning and 11 were hatched and dried. I didn't get to see any hatch this time. But they were all running around and healthy no curled toes no issues. I still have all 11 running around in their homemade rubbermaid brooder. So for me, from now on I will always do it this way. Dry Incubation rocks!!how did the hatch go?
I am running dry. At 7 days i have an average weight loss of 3.7%
Does that sound ok?
Hows yours going?
