I currently have some chicken eggs incubating. When I am ready to raise the humidity level and lockdown will the fact that I have hard water be a problem?

At present humidity is staying around 40%. So far, air cell and such is on track for day 7.

The reason I ask is I wonder if the residue it leaves would block the pores of the eggs.

Thanks for the input.

Hi. :frow

The hard water residue is only left inside the wells where it evaporated from. It does not coat the eggs and should have zero baring.

I have had my incubator running since before Thanksgiving... any device I use for a well has the stuff left behind inside until I clean it out. I use tap (well) water. My eggs are not effected and hatch well all the time.

The answer to your question... in my experience is a solid NO. Hard water residue should not effect your egg pores.

Good luck and happy hatching! :fl:jumpy:jumpy
