Ok it is day 13 of my hatch. I've noticed that since yesterday, the water in the wells has been evaporating very fast. I added water last night and it went from about 45% that night to 35% the next morning. What's causing it to evaporate so fast? The red plug is in and everything is the way it should be.

(P.S. I went to add water wholla go, and the hygrometer read 29%! There was no water in the wells even when I filled it up last night!)

Please help!

Kyle

Try adding couple of sponges to the pan and add hot water to it. The sponges will retain the water much longer. Good luck on your hatch.

I had to add as many small tubs as I could fit in my LG! I also added 4 sponges ontop of the wire floor at lockdown! I just positioned them under the tiny vent hole and used a syringe with a tiny tube to refill the tubs or wet the sponges. It worked great! I only remove the plugs after the second egg hatches. The eggs release alot of moisture when the open. plus the chicks need the fresh air! If you have to open the bator. I dont recommend it!!! But if you have to. Take it into a HOT steamy bathroom! I crank the HOT shower and a small room heater. when filled with steam you can shut off the shower but keep the heater cranked. Then you can remove dry fluffy chicks and empty shells or add water. I then replace the bator to the regular spot and wait until finished. I have done this numerous times and not lost 1 yet! Chicks are fine without food or water for 3 days. I wait at least 48 hrs before removing any!

Good luck and God Bless!
