My chicks started hatching today, day 20. I have 4 that have hatched, one external pip ( I can see its beak moving inside) Evidently he is going to take his time making his grand appearance. I was wondering what I need to keep the humidity at over night with him taking so long. It has been about 6 hours. The others took 2 hrs or less. It's getting close to bed time and I want to make sure I have everything right before hitting the bed. It is staying around 70 right now, but I have noticed it getting close to 80 after a chick hatches...is that normal?

The humidity goes up when you have chicks hatching. I try to stay between 60-70. If it gets too high the chicks won't get enough oxygen. Do you have all the vents on the incubator open?

I have one open and one closed trying to keep the humidity at 70. Since they started to hatch it has been up and down....it has been 10 hours since they started to hatch. I am mostly concerned about the one who pipped...since he is open don't want him drying out....

How is it going?? I have one egg on day 21 today, and.... nothing..... I need some chick news.

I will post pics here a bit, about to head out for a dr appt. Good luck with your egg!!! I hate the waiting part, I feel like a nervous momma hen. Have you ever had to assist a chick before? I have one egg that I know is just different, it seems thicker or it did when I candled it. I could never get a real clear view like with the others, but I could see faint veining when I candled before lock down.

I have, if you need help with that Sally Sunshine has a great article on assisted hatching. ;). I can post the link if you need it.

we have 6!!! and another pip. I just moved 6 from incubator to brooder...very quickly and humidity stayed good. Will get pics up soon. Any thing from your egg yet?
