What is the optimum humidity supposed to be at the beginning of incubation? Right now my humidity is at 40%, correct or it needs to be higher? I set 5 eggs on Sunday and 8 eggs today for a staggered hatch. This is a still air incubator.

You will get many answers.

I think 40 is just about perfect. I did mine closer to 35, but I was trying the dryer incubation method. I personally wouldn't go any higher as the eggs need to lose some moisture during incubation. 65-75 during lockdown. Make sure yoy can maintain that level with vents open and without opening the incubator during lockdown. Some people run plastic tubing through the vent holes and attach syringes to them to add water.

Thank you. I have a small slot pressed out for the tube already that is how I add water to the water trough in the bottom. I just wanted to make sure the 40%was sufficient for this part of the process.

Oh yes, the back vent is open now and holding at 40% with only a little water in the bottom. I should be able to hold the 65-75 with out a problem.
