I would get them out of the house immediately, and be sure to do it ever so gently. You'll only encounter one exploding egg in your life time before you learn that it's not worth the risk of keeping eggs around beyond the point of viability. When they reach the point where they are ready to explode, all you have to do is pick them up, and they go KABLOOIE. Been there, done that! All over my clothes. Had to evacuate the whole Jr. High wing for the rest of the day!

I had that when I tried to incubate a duck egg I found on the shore of a pond when I was a kid. I set up a box, a light bulb, and created one amazingly horrific stink bomb. I would much rather clean a skunked dog than clean an egg-sploded egg.

I haven't had one explode, but I've had a couple good stinkers....lol
