humm more chicken?!

Ya just can't beat EE's (Easter Eggers) or Americaunas for being friendly dependable egg layers, and their eggs are colored! Blue, green, pink. Ya just can't ask for more than that from a lowly chicken.....

i have an EE and i mightwant to look into barred rocks..i was going to get one but it turned out to be a roo lol.
humm im never heard that dual purpose birds are the nicest lol because they want you to keep them to lay lol.

I ended up with two Delawares, and out of all of mine, they are the calmest and most personable. As soon as I open the door to the brooder, they try to shove each other out of the way to jump out and onto my arms.

They really like 'hanging out' and are my favorites to sit and watch tv with.

My two favorites have always been the Barred Rocks and Orpingtons. Both wonderful, gentle birds who lay large eggs and lots of them. I had four Delawares and for some reason, they were very aggressive, ornery chicks that I got rid of. Heard that from a few other people, too, in spite of their rep as being calm, sweet birds.

Sorry I am trying to catch up, I was just going through your posts looking for recent pics of your EE and discovered I had missed your whole thread about your chickens problems.
Do you still have 2?
I didnt find anything that said you had lost another one but only see the one in your signiture.

I can't offer much in the way of different breed experience but, of what I have this is how they are so far.

Dominiques: Very friendly to people, can be a little pushy toward other chickens, especially other dominiques.

Australorps, friendly but a little more shy toward people(they do come when I call them and eat out of my hand). Very docile toward other chickens.

EE, you have one but, mine is very friendly and I think everyone seems to say that about them.

Wyandotte: so far liveing up to what ive read about them trying to be domineering, we will see what happens when winnie gets with the big girls. I'm not sure mine is a girl either.

Sorry I can't say anything about egg laying, I'll know in a month or two.

As for heat, we dont have the kind of heat other places do so again, not much help.

Sorry for your losses,
I hope you find some great new chickens.

I'll be lurking around looking for more pics of your EE
