I just took some pictures of our hummingbirds in a yard yesterday.

Nice pictures!
I was talking to a friend the other day and mentioned that I was going to plant flowers to start attracting hummingbirds to our yard because I like them so much. She turned to her husband, playfully slapped his arm and said "That's why we don't have as many hummingbirds any more, we got rid of all those flowerbeds!"
They are in their late 80's and can no longer keep up with the maintenance of all the flower beds that they had around the house...

Red humming bird feeders and anything bright colored for them to drink out of they like. Also cut a orange in half and if you have a Shepard's hook stick a half of orange on each end and the hummingbirds like those to and it should attract some orioles to.

I have found that you get more hummingbirds when you have the flowering plants along with the feeders.
The flowers also provide a backup source of food. For example, when the males are fighting over "ownership" of the feeder or a bear steals the feeder and walks off into the woods with it... :rant
