So I was just out with my 4 ducks. 2 Pekin, 2 blue Swedish. Supposedly all female. I just watched as one of my blues was mounting the other one and holding her neck with her bill. I bought them just this spring, supposed to be female. New to ducks. Do they do that or is my girl a boy?

Yes females can mount other females to show dominance. Not all of them do, but some of the more alpha personality females will definitely mount another female to show who's boss.

I have all girls. They all have sex with each other. For my ducks it has nothing to do with dominance. The most dominant duck will request that the least dominant duck hop on top. They are just sexual creatures and they enjoy it. They have sex less now that they are older, 5.5 and 6.5, but still everyday.

Thank you everyone. Let's see, yes they all quack like girls. Funny I thought the one on the bottom was the dominant one, even named her Bossie. None of them have started laying yet. Got them March 27th. Should be any minute now? Maybe the "humping" thing is a sign of maturity and getting ready to lay?

I was just about to ask this same question! I have 6 ducks 2 pekin 2 buff 2 gold star hybrid. All females. My oldest of the punch is a pekin (Ms. Waddles) she's 4 months and has been laying consistently for the last 3 weeks. I went out there the other day and I saw a pekin (i thought was waddles ... its getting harder to tell the pekins apart now..) dunking one of the girls under the water. And today she was just dunking them all 😆 i was so confused! Thanks for the question ... and all of the replies!

They are indeed sex mad birds!! Chickens are relatively prudish in comparison
