It was my first year deer hunting and i didnt see a thing but it was still fun

Every year my father goes turkey hunting, he comes back with something other than a turkey.
First time, he was crouched down waiting for a big ol' tom to walk up when he heard a rattling behind him. 6 feet back, diamond back rattlesnake. He shot it, and when he handed the body to his friend, the *dead* snake jumped and they all screamed like little girls.
The next time he was out in a field and the guy's brother let the cows out. The bull ran up and started getting mad that my dad was in there. Dad shot in the air and the bull spooked off long enough for him to get out of the field.
The next time he got a hog.

But never a tom.

And don't get me started on the elk. Got a trophy 6x6 900 lb beast first time ever. Right now he's crawling through the mountains of montana looking for another.
Hopefully next year I'll go hunting, but I don't know if I could shoot a deer. Too much like a horse...

Not funny!!!
Just found out dad is sick, but chose to go out hunting today and got a mule deer.

Now for an elk to fill the freezer!!!

I have not even seen a deer yet but a neighbbor said someone got a 10 point on the next mountain ridge over from me.

I went once. Sat in a stand for a couple hours..
We had about 10 mins left and heard this rustle coming up behind us. I wasnt allowed to turn around to see so we had to just wait..

About 8 mins later it finally got right behind us. I was SO excited..
Then a fox comes trotting out of the woods

Only time Ive been. I want to go SO bad..

My best hunt ever was about 4 years ago. I was in a stand in the field behind our house about an hour before dark and a doe and a much smaller doe came out of the woods in the corner of the field about 50 yards from me. They both kept looking back into the woods so I figured a buck was behind them. they passed close under my stand and followed the tree line to the other end. As I was waiting for the buck out comes a black bear followed by 2 cubs. She stood up on her back legs a few times and looked around while the cubs sniffed around. They followed the trail of the deer and came directly under my stand, I was looking straight down on her, the cubs were about 5 feet behind, they never even knew I was there. When she got to my trail walking in she finally smelled me and stopped and made a low "woof" sound. The cubs ran right to her so I guess it was a warning type sound, she stood up again but never looked up. Then they trotted back the way they came and went back into the woods. I wish I would had a camera instead of a rifle!

My hubby went the other day saw a few small does...Left them to grow up! Walking back to the house he spooked a buck! LOl!

 

[Hillbilly Rooster]

Saw the monster opening day not a good shot so none taken. Was sick to the stomach all day.

Last night got one with bad genetics but nice still the same.

My FIL shot a 17 pointer. A LOT small rack than a 4 pointer would have. It was very weird looking..
And dont feel bad about the monster.. Youre lettin him spread his genes around!
