Went out this morning, saw 2 does, then 2 bucks wandered around in front of me all morning, but out of range. Didn't get any shot opportunities, but it was fun to watch them all morning.

Went out this evening and saw nothing besides one squirrel that scared the crap out of me and about a bazillion noisy crows. My hubby had a good scare. He heard a whoosh sound and turned just in time to see a large great horned owl touch down on his stand... almost on his face. As soon as the owl's feet touched the stand he was backpeddaling, my hubby hollered a four letter word and the owl took off in one motion straight up and out of there. Not sure who was surprised the most... my hubby or the owl!
 
The closest thing I've had happen was one time when I was in full camo and was sitting under a burr oak tree. I heard something in the tree above me. All of the sudden it came down and landed on my head.

I squaked and ducked, and the SQUIRREL took off back up the tree! Surprised us both that time, too!

That is great, Ivy! I don't ever remember seeing an owl while hunting. I did get up in my stand one morning and, just as it started getting light, I looked over to see a Tom turkey roosted in the tree next to me!

Well, 22 pounds of sausage in the freezer. Ten pounds of jerky waiting to go in the smoker tonight. About another twenty pounds of steaks and backstrap. All in all, a good day.

DH is going to grind the rest for sausages. I messed up one of the hams pretty bad, because right when I fired at her ribs she went down a ditch so all that was left exposed was her back end... oops.
