Day 2 of rifle, and I've seen two nice bucks. 8pt and something else that was big (I just saw a lot of antler, but couldn't count points), unfortunately, the one was while we were driving at night to my son's birthday dinner, and the one today was as I was heading for hunting grounds in the afternoon, BUT it was on the prison's forestry grounds, lol. Ah, I really hope that a legal buck meanders my way, and that I can shoot him and kill him cleanly soon! Today I couldn't take the morning shift anymore after 9am, my fingers were so cold that they were burning and wouldn't cooperate with me. :/ I have to stop to get some hand warmers from my mom if I don't want to lose a finger out there tomorrow, lol.

Hope you get them Bettacreek.I hate the cold too.Get some hand , body,and toes warmers. I use them all .
 
I didn't even bother going out this morning. I woke up at 5am, looked outside and went back to bed. With the moon as bright as it is, it's like broad daylight by 5am, and they move long before the 7am legal shooting time. They do move quite a bit by about 4pm, so I'll be down for the afternoon watch anyways. G was making fun of me to find me still at home when he woke up. He said "some hunter you are". Well, I haven't seen him out there at all, because he doesn't hunt! Maybe next year I'll make him get his tag so he can come "enjoy" the freezing cold with me. It's just silly to go hunting when nothing is moving. I only have a 14 acre plot to hunt on, and it's all scrub that they don't eat in and they don't bed in, and there's no water. They only use it as a traveling lane to get from bedding to fodder, so there's no sense in going in the morning when they're passing through before legal shooting hours.
 
With the full moon they eat all night. We go out at noon a hunt the rest of the day .We have got a lot a deer at 3:30 in the afternoon on the full moons days.
 
that's true, seems 11 am - 4 pm are best on the full moon, new moon too for that matter. Though midnight is best! Seems all ours are night walkers any more around here. After the rut it just gets hard to see anything down this way.
Ducks come back in this weekend, so I'll be back in waders I imagen anyway. They always fly no matter what the moon haha!
 
Hi, never posted here before, but this is the buck I shot this evening. I think I shot his sire last year! Was a lot of fun, the last quarter is almost here, so the big boys are coming back out after the rut to eat just about dark.
