first time chookman here. with hurricane isaias (spelling?) coming up the east coast, i locked my flock of 7 10-week olds in the coop with some water. i was going to avoid giving them any food in the coop to reduce the chances of getting unwanted pests in the coop, and I made sure they ate this morning until noonish when I locked them in. my question is - should I put food in the coop? I'm thinking that they will be fine overnighting with no more food and i'll just make sure to get out there and let them at the food first thing tomorrow morning. Thoughts?

I'd go ahead and give food, but yeah, they can probably fast overnight. What kind of wind are you getting?

Im in Cocoa Beach, Florida and Isaias Hurricane already landed in North Carolina. It passed us by. But, right now, we are having HEAVY rain, lightening and ,thunder.
Were are you located?

Connecticut here, crazy wind, no rain though! Gusts of 60 mph+!
Yikes! Batten down the hatches!!
We just finished getting BUCKETS of Rain, high winds Cracking Lightening and rumbling Thunder.
I saw those crazy chickens of mine out in the field pecking away!!
I hope those bugs were tasty!!!
They looked soaked. AND...they have Tons of places to take cover but, they were too busy getting the bugs and worms ro get out of rhe rain.
Lol, I just saw Goldie jump in the air.
I hope shes catching mosquitoes!!

SE PA. Tons of rain, flooding and isolated tornadoes. There was a tornado 10 miles from my home. My girls were safe in the garage.

Just to button up this thread for posterity, I ended up putting them in the coop at noon after letting them free feed for about 5-6 hours. Let them out after the storm had mostly passed at about 6 or so. They were certainly hungry but they did just fine. They might have touched the in-coop water? Not positive.
