Hurricane season 2024

Lol, same! I grew up in Denver and trudging through snow up to my knees to school was perfectly normal. But I raised my family in New Mexico and became a Desert Girl! Denver is a great place to be from but I have no desire to go back! SE Missouri is plenty cold for me now.
Oh man I curse when we have to go to Denver! We live in Wyoming and have to travel to Denver for some of our needs that are only accessible in more populous areas, such as some vehicle maintenance. It might have been a bit different at one time, but the traffic now days is torture!

I can’t imagine a humid cold like in Missouri, I hear it’s horrible!

I remember those ice storms. One year we had two inches of ice followed by a foot of snow. You talk about miserable. The whole region pretty much shut down. That kind of ice causes problems for electrical wires and people generally lose power. When we lost power, we couldn't flush the toilet being on a well. You step outside in sub zero temps and your nostril hairs freeze instantly.
Now that I recall that, it's not so bad here --- well --- unless it's 108 in the shade for four months of the year --- and oh yeah --- there's the hurricanes.
Entering the age of not being satisfied..... 🙃

We had ice/snow like that one winter in NM too. Snow, then sun that melted some of the snow. Then freezing temps that froze everything. Then more snow. Rinse and repeat, day after day. I was determined to get out of the house and go to church - and WHAP - on my way out to my car, my feet flew out from under me and I nearly broke my elbow! Crawled back to the house and decided cabin fever was the lesser of two evils.

We are well here and grateful for only having moderate tree damage. No structural issues, fortunately, and our chickens were brought into the house for two days and nights. Unless one experiences it, the power of the relentless winds is really indescribable and like nothing I've ever experienced before.
There are many others in south FL who are struggling - lost everything. If that were to happen to us, I really think I would have to move elsewhere, never to look back.
