Well i had a chick start to pip yesterday at about noon. well this morning the hole hadent gotten any bigger and the chick was trying so hard to get out, but couldnt!
So i helped break the shell off and as i did, the chick was able to move and finished breaking out. Anyway, as i was breaking the shell away i could see that the white shell lining was all over the chick and it was hard! half of the chicks face is coved in the hardened shell lining and part of its back.

the chick is doing ok, but it cant see out the one eye, and part of it back is also hooked with that shell lining.
i want to know, how do i fix this?
after the chick dries completely, can i help wipe off the hard shell with a damp rag.

what can i do?

RAISE the humidity by adding warm water to the pan.

For the hatched chick, get a cottonball dipped in warm water and slowly wipe it down and try to gently peel away the excess membrane from the fluff and eye area. If you have more in the bator the humidity needs to come up.

ETA Don't let it dry it will only make it harder to come off. Do it now. Then put the chick in the brooder to dry.

You can use a q tip and warm water and slowly work at getting its eye cleared off. Or a wash cloth would probably be as good. Congrats on the baby!

yep the cotton ball or qtip in warm water helps. Once the baby is doing better (eating, drinking, running around) I follow up with a bath in a tiny shallow bowl and you can use a soft toothbrush dipping it into the warm water, to get the rest of the dried up membrane off if you need to. I do it in front of a space heater so they won't get chilled. Then dry them off in a warm soft dry washcloth in front of the heater. They usually like that part.

I had a silkie a bit like this, used a load of q-tips dipped in warm water & gently wiped off the goop before it dried too bad.
His eye, once cleaned up, sorted itself out after a couple of days & by a week old he was totally fluffy

Yep, you want the humidity to be at least 58, more like 60 minimum, for the last 3 days. This keeps the membrane nice and soft and slick and pliable so the peep can get out. Too low humidity, and the peeps get shrink-wrapped inside their membranes.
