I have a male peacock that was attacked by a big Tom turkey… His wounds have been cleaned up antibiotic ointment Alushield and he is by himself in a dog crate with heat on him… But not eating or drinking… What can I give him oral or injectable to help him? Thank you

Can you give him sweetened water? He may be in shock. Is there any treats that he loves? Can you give him that?

I’ve already given him his favorite black oil sunflower seeds and mealworms… I am curious about injectable or oral antibiotics and pain medicine for this bird I feel like if he feels a little better he will eat… Ideas on SMZ, Flagyl, cephalexin… Dosages and P

I would fear that the big tom probably jumped on him pretty hard causing internal injuries. If this just happened there is no need for antibiotics until an infection develops. Tube feeding him with water and Kaytee baby bird feed and keeping him warm is the best treatment at the moment. If you applied topical ointment to the flesh wounds after cleaning him up that is about the best you can do unless he needs to be stitched up.
