hurt chicken question

one of my chickens had a run in with two of my dogs(escaped their pen). they tore her neck open, meat exposed. i brought her in and put her in a cage. i gave her some terramycin powder in her water and my hubby is picking up some ointment on the way home. she's acting fine, eating and drinking. is there anything else to do with her? i didn't cover it cause it would just stick to the wound. i don't plan on returning her till she is completely healed and yes i better secured the dog prison so they can't get out again. i just want to make sure i covered all the basics. thanks.

you need to flush the wound with sterile saline solution. You can make your own by boiling 1/4 tsp salt in a quart of water for five minutes (cool).
You need to FLUSH the wound with this solution not apply it. Do not use hydrogen peroxide. You can dilute iodine to the color of a tea and apply that after the saline.
I am assuming your hubby is bring home triple antibiotic creme?

This is my first post. We have a Delaware hen. She is about 7 months old. She and our lab had some sort of run in the other day (but we are not sure exactly what happened) we just found them together (wing in dog mouth) and all of her back feathers are gone. There was no blood (some tenderness from the removed feathers it looks like). She had just recently started laying and the night she was injured laid and egg (VERY SOFT AND SMASHED BY MORNING) and hasn't laid since. My question is this - is there something more we can be doing for her - we cleaned her up and kept her warm and she is now coming back downstairs in her coop (it is enclosed). She seems back to her normal self. Will the feathers grow back? How long? This is out first chicken. We got it for our daughter to raise and it has become part of the family. I was devastated when I saw it laying in the back yard - but am grateful that she appears to be doing well. Any advice would be reatly appreciated.
