ok, so i am new to the chicken thing, but need advice. i have 10 chickens and 1 seems to have hurt herself pretty bad. she is a rhode island red and is about 1 year old, she seems to have broken/lost control of her leg, she is not mobile and is holding herself up from a sitting position with her wing. her (toes) for lack of a better word are curled, but when i pick her up doesn't seem to complain about pain. i am moving her around the coop for water and food and am worried that she won't be able to sustain herself. i am not a slaughter guy and have them mostly for pets/eggs. i am wondering if she might slightly recover (should i give her time to recover) or should i put her out of her misery. how long should i give her, can chickens bounce back from this? please give advice. thanks in advance. Sean

@seanwhip...not trying to tell you what to do or anything, but if you go a little farther down the page where they list the topic categories for the threads on this site you'll come to one title emergencies/diseases/injuries and cures, and I'll bet that if you re post your chickens signs and symptom there...you'll be flooded with help in no time. Also, I'm not going to go in to all the details or reasons why I feel the way I do right now because it's late and I'm getting really sleepy, but you might also want to look into a disease called Marek's Disease. Not to worry you or anything but it's a virus that chickens can get that has no know cure and a very high mortality rate. Put it in the search box at the top of page and read what comes up. Just a thought. I wish you and your chickens all the best.

Thanks Kim, my first time posting here so please excuse my ignorance. I will post under the emg/dis/inj sections. Thanks again
