Hurt Duck

Hi Everyone,

Two days a go one of my ducks had a limp. Upon closer inspection we could see that it was bleeding and when it's wing lifted we could tell something had gotten ahold of it. There is an open wound. I was wondering what if anything I could put on it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

At this point, I would seriously consider an oral antibiotic since its wounds have not been treated. I would get it (and the others) to a safe place.

A thorough wound washing with saline solution would be good. Is there any swelling or redness that you can see? What kind of injuries exist around the leg and foot?

Give a nice lukewarm bath, let the duck swim in the tub and watch closely. Do the legs seem to work okay? Again any swelling, cuts, puncture wounds?

Epsom salts compresses can help leg injuries. There is Blu-Kote for surface injuries. Veterycin spray may help - it's antibacterial.
