Is lavender essential oil help duck wounds? My 2 Black Ducks Daffy and Daphne were attacked by a raccoon last night. Her head was wounded really bad. I bandaged her and him up and used lavender. This was all I had. Her beak is hurt but I can’t bandage her mouth closed.

I'm sorry about Daffy and Daphne :hugs
Can you post some photos of the wounds?

Where are you located in the world?

I don't know enough about essential oils to be able to tell you what or how to use them. @coach723 may have some tips about those.

This is what I would do. Rinse her wounds with saline since it's her head, it won't hurt if that happens to get in her eyes. If you don't have store bought saline, then make your own.
The recipe is 1 teaspoon of salt per quart of water. Boil for 15 minutes to make sterile.
Let cool, then use it to clean her wounds. I would make fresh as needed, saline doesn't store well and would need to be kept in a sterilized jar for no more than 24hrs..

Do you have an first aid supplies? Neosporin (triple antibiotic ointment), vetericyn, bannix - anything like that?
If not, then personally, I would try to get one of those. Generic triple antibiotic ointment can be found at most dollar stores that's what I use.

Let's see the pictures though - I or others may suggest something else.

Yes, you can use lavender essential oil on wounds. I would recommend diluting it a little bit, as straight oils can sometimes be too strong and cause irritation. I would dilute it at least by 50%, by mixing one to one with a carrier oil. Mix 3 or 4 drops with an equal number of drops of coconut oil, and use it that way. Watch for any irritation, if that happens then I would discontinue it, or dilute it more. Since the wounds are on the head and beak then breathing in the strong fumes of the oil could potentially irritate their respiratory system (though lavender is used for irritated respiratory systems sometimes-but usually misted or diffused), so caution for that also. And avoid getting it in their eyes. Depending on the size/depth of the wounds, an antibiotic ointment may be better at keeping them covered and moist. I agree, that it would be really helpful to see pictures.

Thank you so much I didn’t think about the Celine I do have the antibiotic ointment and the bandages and the generic iodine and I’ve been trying to make sure she is hydrated and I gave her electrolytes and a little bit of food with a syringe

Unless is rubbing her head, (self-mutilating) the wound, I would personally take the bandage off, it can be beneficial in some cases, but too often it's applied incorrectly, and in effect, can delay healing, cause tissue edema, create an environment for maggots , and can irritate the skin. Just flush the head with saline, and slather it with an antibiotic ointment. Keep her In an area away from flies.
