hurt foot or something else?

This sadly sounds just like my naked neck that got confirmed mareks. I sure hope not though. If it is mareks, call where you bought the chicks and ask is they were vacinated, a certain percentage of vacinated birds get mareks from the vacine also.

I hope you find another explenation. I seriously hope that it is just a injured leg and not worse.

This image make me think MD.

We had it on our property. I will say though, that floor looks like it may not offer enough traction for a healthy bird either. Smooth surfaces can hurt chickens legs, but I don't think that is the case here.

We had a SLW about 8-10 weeks old called Pepper come down with it, we tried everything to save it, vet confirmed MD. Started with walking on the top of her foot, and as the paralysis spread she lost more use of her leg until she had the one foot forward one back stance.

She would also seem to gasp from time to time. She still seemed energetic, but the disease of most often fatal.

I am only going off the info you have provided, and that one pic, but it sounds very familiar.

My understanding of MD, if one of your flock has it, they all will. Some will have a natural immunity, some will have the above symptoms, very few survive, but some do bounce back.

If you want to read about how we dealt with it, pictures and so on, have a read of the thread in my signature, tells all of our experience.

I really hope this little one is a fighter.

That isn't where it stays just wanted to show good picture in hurry before I left for work. I have tote with pine shavings for it, I don't think it is injured due to started with the one leg then to other. Im going to start vit B and hope it will help cause im so scared to believe we have mareks :(. I hatched all 31 of my chicks, the 3 that are still inside are last born at 6 weeks of age. I had no clue I needed to vaccinate them :'(

We had a chick do that at about 3 weeks old. Lethargic, a little wobbly, then woke up one morning and she couldn't use her legs. A day or two later, toes curled in on both feet.
She was still eating and drinking when given the opportunity (she couldn't walk to food and water by herself), so we figured she probably wasn't sick with something (I don't know a whole lot about chicken sicknesses yet, but logic told me that after declining so much in only a few days, her appetite would be down as well).
Anyway, we put her in a separate box with food (feed only-no treats or scratch) and water in shallow containers where she could reach them (she could "scoot" with her wings). For two days, we dipped her beak in water so she'd drink. We started putting probiotics in her water as well.
Within 2-3 days, she started standing again. Then, walking, and day by day got better and better. Now, about 3 weeks later you wouldn't know anything happened except for her delayed body and feather growth (although she's almost caught up now). We can't believe it, as we were almost positive she wasn't going to make it. I think she had a vitamin deficiency.
Wow, that turned into a long story, sorry! I do hope it helps in some way, and hope for the best :)

Most people don't vaccinate, especially for the home hatchers. Companies offer it for a few cents per bird, but you miss the experience of the hatch.

It is possible to be something else, I had read about hock injuries and broken toes and all sorts, but it unfortunately turned out to be the horrid MD (for us)

EDIT: and now add in the above post too.

I would start with keeping it separate from the others, keep the foot and water available (ours loved green grapes!), we also offered some water from a little dripper every few hours just to make sure she was getting some. Read, look at the symptoms, search the net. There is a heap of conflicting info out there so it takes some patience to sift through what signs you have and what others have had. Finally monitor the rest of your flock very closely. If it is MD, it spread very easily. Hopefully they have good immune systems to fight any exposure.

We found the St Johns Wort, tried it, did nothing for us, other than that were tried to keep her comfortable until we got to a point where we felt we were just prolonging the inevitable.

The first bird we had, was limping in the morning, died in the afternoon, the second one was Pepper, we tried with her for along time. The third case we had was a GLW called Mocha, we thought she hurt her foot in the coop as it never got worse, she just seemed to be limping. I think we monitored her for nearly a month. Eventually, we had to admit we had an issue. the full story is in my signature.

On a positive note though, it has been months now, and we are quietly confident it is gone. We have not seen another case in 5 months (touch wood, fingers crossed, salt over the shoulder)

I have been dealing with what I had thought was Marek's in my 7 week old SLW. However, she became unable to walk within 1 day with no previous symptoms. Does anyone know if that happens with Marek's?

Forgot to add that this is day 6 and she still cannot support herself with her legs although she does move them and has some strength in them. I hand feed her or I don't think she would be eating/drinking.

Yes sadly Marek's. Can hit with no previous symptoms. They can be fine one day and down the next. Certain things can also mimic Marek's
Like riboflavin defiency.can also cause them not to be able to walk with curled toes. However Marek's causes paralysis and can usually be seen by the non natural way they hold their legs. I hope this helps. Best wishes

So far I think its on day four no others have been limping. 28 have been out in coop for two weeks only 3 remain inside . Will grab vit B and anything else that I may hear about on here on my way home and start tonight and pray it helps the baby. Thank you all for helping
