I have 7 week old chick that I just noticed last night with one foot curled up and out in front of him.Mostly just sitting but will put pressure on it when I'm holding him. I don't see any sores, can someone please help what should I do?

Still not walking much, its left leg out front of it and right behind, it tries walking but doesn't go far not really sure if eating or drinking but acts pretty normal other wise. Its 6 weeks old. Can anyone help?

The way the legs are it sounds like Marek's. It wouldn't hurt to give vitamins in case its a defiency but the way your describing it I must agree it does sound like Marek's disease. Sadly. Maybe someone else knows if it could possibly be some other disorder however to me it does sound like Marek's

Thank you for responding. I have my 3 youngest inside still my others have been out for two weeks, could they have it also? First time with chickens didn't know I had so much to worry about but keeping their area clean and feeding :(

Are there any other symptoms at all? When you say the bird tries walking can you please describe how...does it actually get up on it's feet? Does it just move by 'hock walking'? How skinny is the bird? Are there any changes with one eye or both? Color, pupil? Feed? Suppliments? Any medications? Any respiratory or 'cold' like symptoms in it's life so far? Have you checked the little one for mites or lice?

Let's start with the above first.....The one leg forward and one back does sound like Marek's but I have learned it can be a whole bunch of other things as well. This link is to a thread I am working on, it has some good links and can help you decide if anything else could be the cause.

No medicine has been given and will get vit B when i get home. This little one is so hard to get good pictures of alone. Very skinny bone is sticking out. My need to hand feed. Is in with two other little ones, will separate when I get home.

haunted55 I read link thanks so much. The few days before leg problem I was fighting with wet litter everyday I would come home to it being soaks and chick waterer be almost empty, had to change daily but finally got issue fixed. I had to put dish on board to raise it off litter. Should I do antibodies if chick doesn't seem to have cold?
